Discover the Magic of Yeosu, Korea: Stunning Views, Amazing Food, and Coastal Adventures! ✨🌊
If you're planning a trip to South Korea and want to explore beyond Seoul, let me introduce you to Yeosu — a coastal gem packed with breathtaking views, mouthwatering seafood, and unforgettable adventures! Trust me, after one trip here, you'll be raving about it to all your friends. Let’s dive right into it!
Why Yeosu Should Be on Your Korea Travel List
Yeosu is a vibrant port city located in the southern part of Korea. It’s famous for its dazzling ocean views, romantic nightscapes, and fresh seafood. Whether you're a nature lover, a foodie, or a chill adventurer, Yeosu has something special for you.
I still remember stepping off the KTX train and feeling the salty breeze welcoming me. It was love at first sniff!
Top Things to Do in Yeosu
1. Ride the Yeosu Cable Car 🚡
Get ready for one of the coolest rides of your life! The Yeosu Cable Car connects Dolsan Island and Jasan Park, soaring over the ocean. If you're brave enough, take the Crystal Cabin — the floor is see-through! My legs were shaking, but the view was 100% worth it.
Pro Tip: Go around sunset. Watching the sky turn pink and gold over the water? Pure magic.
2. Explore Odongdo Island 🌳
Just a short walk from the mainland, Odongdo Island is a peaceful escape full of camellia flowers (especially in winter!). Wander the leafy trails, listen to the waves crash against the cliffs, and maybe even spot a singing fountain show.
I rented a cute little bike and circled the island — it felt like starring in my own K-drama scene!
3. Visit Yi Sun-sin Plaza and Big Turtle Ship ⚔️
Meet one of Korea's greatest heroes, Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and check out the life-size replica of his famous "Turtle Ship." It’s a quick but meaningful stop where you can snap some historical selfies.
The ship looks like a real warrior beast — even kids were gasping in awe!
4. Enjoy the Night View at Marine Park 🌟
Yeosu really comes alive at night. The bridges light up in rainbow colors, and the sea sparkles under the stars. Grab some street food (grilled squid, anyone?) and stroll along the waterfront. Pure romantic vibes!
I even saw couples renting tandem bikes covered in fairy lights. Adorable overload!
5. Eat Fresh Seafood at Yeosu Fish Market 🦐
Prepare your taste buds! Yeosu’s fish market is bursting with super fresh seafood — live octopus (if you're feeling brave), spicy grilled fish, abalone porridge, and more. Everything is insanely fresh and flavorful.
One bite of spicy grilled mackerel, and I was hooked. Literally could have eaten three plates.
Best Time to Visit Yeosu
Yeosu is lovely year-round, but spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) are the best. The weather is perfect for outdoor adventures, and the scenery is extra gorgeous.
Summer is fun too, especially with beach activities, but be prepared for the heat!
How to Get to Yeosu
By Train (KTX): 3 hours from Seoul — super easy and comfortable.
By Bus: Around 4-5 hours from Seoul or Busan.
By Plane: Yeosu Airport connects to major Korean cities.
I personally took the KTX and loved how fast and smooth the trip was. Plus, you get amazing views of the Korean countryside along the way!
Where to Stay in Yeosu
Luxury: Sono Calm Yeosu — gorgeous ocean views and walking distance to top spots.
Mid-Range: Yeosu Venezia Hotel — comfy, stylish, and affordable.
Budget: Cute guesthouses and hostels around Odongdo or downtown Yeosu.
I stayed near the waterfront and woke up every morning to the sound of seagulls — best alarm clock ever!
Bonus Adventure: Dolsan Bridge Light Show
Don’t miss the colorful light show at Dolsan Bridge. It's like the whole bridge is dancing in colors — perfect for a late-night stroll or a quick Instagram snap.
